Packaged foods

A healthy balanced diet doesn’t include lots of crisps, biscuits, cakes, sweets, chocolate or sugary drinks.

We eat these foods often, because they taste good!

  • If you have these foods on your shopping list, try to avoid buying more than you need
  • To avoid temptation, you can try to avoid the aisles that stock these items
  • Offers like reduced prices, buy one get one free, and other multi-buys are not used by stores and supermarkets for your benefit
  • Offers are there to get you to spend more money than you normally would

Remember not all offers are a good deal. Standard versions of products not on offer can be cheaper.

However, some offers can work for healthier choices and save you money, such as offers on cupboard staples that will keep for a while
  • You are less likely to eat more than you meant to with tinned foods or dried foods like pasta or pulses
  • Buying these in bulk can be a good idea and work out cheaper
